TAHA ALTAYLI

After studying medicine at Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine for six years, Taha Altaylı commenced a post-graduate degree in psychiatry at Justus-Liebig University in Giessen in Germany. He discontinued his studies when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 and in 1992, he moved to Central Asia. He founded the TA Group that became operational in the Central Asian Republics from 1994, and from 2007 in Turkey. His first poetry book “Yine Sana” was published in 1994.

He entered the world of cinema, which he has regarded as a manifestation of his passions and amateur interests of literature, art, and music ever since his adolescence, as co-producer of the documentary The Lost Songs of Anatolia. He founded GalataFilm together with Mustafa Karahan and producer/director Muharrem Gülmez in 2010.

Will, a feature film with a budget of $12 million, was his first international stint as co-producer. TA Group’s Chairman of the Board, Altaylı is also producer of lots of new films.
